Costs
North American undergraduate students on the Bard/CEU program pay fees covering all course work, internship seminar and transfer credit. Orientation costs are also included. Students are responsible for their own travel to Budapest, and incidental expenses. Room and board in Budapest are generally less expensive than in North America.

 

Please note that the Bard/CEU program offers scholarships to students (see section below).

Refund policy for the semester-based study abroad/internship programs
Spring semester:
-
December 31 - full payment due
- Withdrawal before January 10 - 50% refund for study abroad and internship
- Withdrawal after January 10 - no refund either for study abroad or internship
Fall semester:
- June 30 - full payment due
- Withdrawal before August 31 - 50% refund for study abroad and internship
- Withdrawal after August 31 - no refund either for study abroad or internship

Special CEU Scholarships Now Available
Central European Univeristy announces four types of scholarships that are available to assist students in paying for their study abroad at CEU.
  • State School Scholarships: scholarships available to students attending a public college or university;
  • Equalizing Cost Scholarships: scholarships that, whenever possible, cover the cost difference between a semester at the home college or university and a semester at CEU; (Please submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid- FAFSA for the current academic year . Only Part I of the blue, multipage student-aid report is required);
  • Merit Scholarships: merit scholarships for students participating in study abroad at CEU (based on a transcript: min. GPA 3.7 and above; a statement of purpose and one recommendation letter that are submitted as a regular part of the application);
  • Hungarian-American Scholarships: scholarships available to students of Hungarian background (Please submit a 200-250 word essay demonstrating you /your family's connection to Hungary and why attending CEU is important to you).

More than 50 scholarships worth of $250,000 have been distributed over the past five years to the undergraduate students to assist them in paying for their study abroad at CEU. CEU has offered almost $25,000 worth of scholarships to a selected number of students admitted to CEU study abroad for Spring 2007.

The scholarship form is included in the CEU Application for Admission to the Bard study abroad program at CEU. Click the link below to download the entire application packet and save it to your harddrive. You can fill it out electronically and e-mail back as an attachement along wih other requested documents to ceu@bard.edu. Alternatively, you may print out the application package, fill it out and mail it to the study abroad at CEU to the address below.

Students are encouraged to explore other funding and scholarship options. Scholarships from students' home institution and federal and state grants may be applicable to study at CEU.
