On average, during the Fall and Spring semesters, students work 15 hours a week for a minimum of 10 weeks. In the Fall and Spring internship, students are also required to participate in the credited Core Seminar. as a complement to the PIP. This is a class taught by a faculty member at CEU that provides an academic framework for the students to contextualize the professional internship experience. In the Core Seminar, students are challenged to explore specific themes on the role of civil society, globalization, regional integration, international affairs and develop skills in critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and written and oral expression.
Students can earn up to 4 credits either for the Fall or Spring Professional Internship Program (for the Core Seminar) that will be transferred into Bard College undergraduate transcript for easy transfer of credits to students' home institutions.
In Fall, PIP starts in the second half of August and ends in the middle of December. In Spring, PIP begins in the second week of April and ends in June.
